English - Essay.

Hunt for the Wilderpeople by Taika Waititi. This essay is about the relationship between Uncle Hec and Ricky Baker.

In the beginning of the movie Ricky was in a cop car getting driven to the middle of nowhere, he was getting taken to his new "home" Ricky was a foster kid, getting taken from home to home... This was his last chance at living a normal life, he had one more chance, if he get's kicked out of this house he will have to go to a children's prison. Ricky and Hector didn't get along at first.. Hector didn't even let Ricky call him uncle!

Bella, Hec's wife is very fond of Ricky, but Ricky doesn't really like Bella, but that changes when she got Ricky a dog for his 13th birthday! Ricky names the dog Tupac after his idol Tupac Shakur.

Sadly Bella ends up suddenly dieing.. Hec then makes it worse but telling Ricky that child services is going to come and get him! Ricky then burns the barn down to fake his suicide. He runs into the bush with his best friend Tupac. Ricky then gets found by Hec. When Hec found him he ended up falling and breaking his ankle! Which meant the two had to camp in the bush for a while.

While the two had been camping in the bush, the authorities found the house and the barn. The house had been abandoned and the barn was of course burnt down. The authorities had come down to a conclusion that mentally unstable Hec has abducted Ricky! The impression is strengthened after an encounter with three foolish hunters. (Ron, Joe and Hugh) Who get the idea that Hec has and is molesting Ricky.  Hec then tells Ricky that he has been in prison for manslaughter before and he is also illiterate. Ricky then tells him that his only friend in foster care died. The pair then decide to disappear into the bush together.

A national manhunt gets enforced, Ricky ended up running to a girls house and then when he was meant to re meetup with Hec he went to the meeting spot and it was surrounded with police. He ran away and ended up seeing some people from the foster place. Paula tried to bribe Ricky by getting him to say that Hec was a sex offender, and if he did that he would never have to go to jail. Ricky denied and kept running. Ricky ended up finding Hec by using the survival tools that Hec had taught him.

After 5 months surviving in the bush, with lots of close calls  they end up getting caught in a helicopter and car chase. Ricky then accidently shoots Hec he ends up getting put in a different foster family. After Hec's release from prison, he ends up seeing Ricky again, Ricky's foster family lets him go to see Hec in the bush and they end up taking photos of a huia they rediscovered in there time in the bush. Also Hec ends up letting Ricky call him Uncle Hec!

Overall I believe that if you found this essay interesting, you should definitely watch the movie, you can watch it on TVNZ on demand and if you don't have an account they are free to make.

Map of what I think the olden days look like.

Map of old village, original made by me.

I made a map on paper of what I think the villages back in the day look like! I used pen and paper.
The life back then was awful, people got killed, it stunk there was human waste and other waste everywhere.
The punishments were disgusting, people got burned, stabbed with spikes that were in chairs, and sometimes killed with rocks and stones that were thrown at them. They also got beat to death, and so much more. I am grateful I didn't live in that age.

Here is a picture of my map.
