Persuasive Essay English - Juveniles should be tried and treated as adults.

Juveniles should be tried and treated as adults.

Juveniles get away with murder, rape and other terrible crimes… It’s very serious and no one should get away with it, something needs to change. This issue not only happens in New Zealand but all around the world.

Every day, young people under the age of 18 commit murder, rape, and other horrible crimes. Why should they be given special consideration?

People understand that making errors as a teenager is unavoidable. I'm not suggesting that if a teen enters a mall and shoplifts, they should be tried and sentenced to a year in prison. Perhaps not.

However, no matter how old a person is, murder or rape are not crimes committed without deliberation on the part of the perpetrator. Any adolescent who tortures and murders another person, or commits rape, or any other extreme crimes of the sort should not be treated as a child and should not be permitted to get away with it. We continue to foster the rot that is slowly but steadily undermining the earth by allowing them to get away with crimes.

People do not condone the fact that these kids are committing disgusting crimes, something needs to change. The time is now, let's get these juveniles jailed and get justice for the ones affected.

There should be no justification. Criminals who commit crimes are criminals, and we should not allow their age to keep them on our streets, living among us and, in many cases, committing additional crimes. Teenagers should be held

accountable for their conduct and tried as adults. If you're scared about the consequences, don't commit the crime. Period.

Here are some statistics from New Zealand.

In 2019 there were 1,503 children and young people in court, and in 2020 there were 1,584 which proves that it is increasing over the years.

Only 20% who committed a serious offence got home detention and were tried as adults.

In conclusion, evidence proves that juveniles get away with murder and therefore they should be tried adults.

Why schools should start at 10 am.

I believe that schools should start at 10 am because:

Students and teachers wouldn't be as tired. Being less tired means people would be more focused. More focused means more learning.

Teachers and students wouldn’t be so rushed in the morning, which means that people won’t forget stuff, and it’s also better for your mental health.

Having better mental health means that students would get a better view on school and it is also better overall.

Students would more likely come to school, better attendance. Which also means they will learn more as they are there more of the time.

More learning = better future.

Students will be a lot better, which means they are nicer to teachers and that means that the teachers will be happier and they will be nicer to the students.
